Senior Boys' Charcoal Trousers - Flat Front/No Pleats

How to Choose the Correct Size Trousers

  • We very strongly advise that you either send your son in, or bring them in for their trousers to be fitted. If we can see your son, and measure him, then we can fit the trousers to his height and body shape so the trousers will be more comfortable and they should also last longer. The staff at Inaburra Uniform Shop have over five years experience in fitting boys' school trousers, so come and make use of their experience.
  • Because almost all of our trousers have the built in flexi-waist, also known as "burger room" (you know when you have a lot of burgers for lunch, and you feel a bit bloated? That's when you need burger room...), the waistband will stretch with your son as he grows. Buying the next size up in trousers almost never works, because often the boys have stretched their trousers A LOT without realising.
  • We also stock a variety of patterns and different cuts; we have a standard Youth cut, a Youth Quarter, which has extra room in the thighs and the seat area, plus a standard Men's cut and Men's Quarters.
  • Are you confused yet? Please send your son over to the Uniform Shop any lunchtime except Friday's when we're closed. They don't need special permission, and yes they can bring their posse with them ;-)
  • If we still haven't convinced you to come in, then this is how to choose the correct size for purchase online:
    • Measure your son with a fabric tape measure pulled in firm (not tight) across their hipbones, preferably not over bulky clothing.
    • Then choose a size a few cm's smaller than what they measure. This is so the trousers will grip to their hips to stay up.
    • Example: If your son's hip measurement was 74cm, after checking the size charts below, you can work out that you could choose a Youth size 12/72cm. If they're a stocky build, a Youth Quarter 11Q/72cm  would work, or if they're tall and slim, a Men's 2/72cm.
    • If the initial sizes were too small, M2H/74.5cm, or a Y13/74cm would be the next sizes up to try.
    • As this example shows, for a boy with a 72cm waist, there are three different patterns available, plus pleated or non-pleated styles to try. If we can see your son, we know what style and size to choose, and even then, sometimes they need to try a few pairs on before they find the ones that are the most comfortable fit.
    • But what if my son won't go over to the Shop despite me asking him for weeks? Call us! We can send a note to the students class and have them sent over for a fitting. We didn't raise almost a dozen kids between us without learning a few sneaky tricks about getting teenaged boys to do something they don't want to do ;-)

Robert Bruce Flat Fronted Charcoal Trousers with adjustable button waist

  • The Robert Bruce Charcoal Trousers are the same sizing in the Youth, Men's and Men's Quarter sizes.
  • The Men's half sizes are different- M6H/89cm and M7H/94.5cm on the inner side button.
  • They also strangely have size 6H/89cm, then M6/92cm. This means that the half sizes are smaller than the regular size in each size. So M6H is smaller than M6 (this definitely isn't mathematical in any way!)
  • Adjusting out to the outer button on both sides adds approximately 2.5cm to the waistband, making it the next size up. So the 6H trousers can have either an 89cm waist, or a 92cm waist on the same pair of trousers. While this is useful, we usually put on weight or grow everywhere, so if the pants are getting tight in the waist, chances are they're also getting tight in the thighs and the seat.
  • You can also helpfully bring the waist in smaller by cutting off the inner buttons and sewing them back on the waistband closer to the centre zip closure, thereby tightening the waist.
  • We have limited sizes and stock available at the sale price of $40/pair or three pairs for $100 as this stock is discontinued.
  • Same style as the old Junior Boys Robert Bruce Formal Wool shorts.
